Poems Recorded in Deptford and Greenwich by Various.
This audiobook is now complete and available to download from the catalogue page:- http://librivox.org/poems-recorded-in-deptford-and-greenwich-by-various/
All recordings are complete, so this collection can go straight to Readers Found and the catalogue.
Recordings were made on Sunday May 18th in Deptford and Greenwich, by LibriVox's UK Chapter and guest star Hugh. Locations are St Nicholas' church in Deptford, and the Greenwich Foot Tunnel.
(BC admin)
[*]BEFORE recording:
Please check the Recording Notes:
http://librivox.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=6427#6430
Set your recording software to:
Bit Rate: 128 kbps
Sample Rate: 44.1 kHz
[*]DURING recording:
Make sure you add this to the beginning and end of your recording:
Start of recording (Intro)- "Chapter [number] of [Book title]. - This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information, or to volunteer, please visit: librivox DOT org"
- If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name]"
- Say:
"Title, by Author. [Translated by [translator]]. [Chapter]"
End of recording- At the end of the section, say:
“End of [Chapter]"
- If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
- At the end of the book, say (in addition):
"End of Title, by Author. [Translated by [translator]]."
Please leave 5 seconds silence at the end of your recording, or 10 seconds for files longer than 30 minutes!
Also, please remember to check this thread frequently for updates!
[*]AFTER recording:
Need noise-cleaning?
Listen to your file through headphones. If you can hear some constant background noise (hiss/buzz), you may want to clean it up a bit. The new (free) version 1.3.3. of Audacity (Mac/Win) has much improved noise-cleaning. See this LibriVox wiki page for a complete guide.
Save files as
128 kbps MP3
titleinoneword_##_authorsurname.mp3 (all lower-case) where ## is your section number. (e.g. titleinoneword_01_authorsurname.mp3)
ID3 V2 tags
(To find out more about ID3 tags, go to our wiki: http://librivox.org/wiki/moin.cgi/WhatIsID3)
Add the following tags to your .mp3 file (how you do this depends on which software you use – if you are unsure about ID3 tags, send me a message). Please mind upper and lower case!
Title: ## - [Section title]
Artist: Author name
Album: Book title
Please ignore tags for Genre and Track Number - these will be filled in automatically at the cataloguing stage.
Transfer of files (completed recordings)
Please always post in this forum thread when you've sent a file.
Also, post the length of the recording (file duration: mm:ss) together with the link.
- Upload your file with the LibriVox Uploader (when your upload is complete, you will receive a link - please post it in this thread):
http://upload.librivox.org
(If you have trouble reading the image above, please message an admin)
You'll need to select the MC, which for this project is: yy - yyyyy
- If this doesn't work, or you have questions, please check our How To Send Your Recording wiki page.

Hello, ec and the rest of y'all! I assume since none of the UK crew has taken this that it's up for grabs, so I'm grabbing it. I'll move it on down to Readers Found. I have no idea how to handle a compilation (yet) so bear with me. <grin>
Two things: can you all provide definitely-PD sources for 3 and 5? And have you already PL'd each other's readings, or is that step still needed?
edit: note to self - Futility on PG here: http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/1034 (p 23 if you click "read online") if any doubt about Poet Seers site (note to UK chapter: is there any doubt about Poet Seers site? couldn't find a copyright or PD notice there)
edit: another note to self - Mosquito apparently written 1928 (gigantic Google books link) _________________ Laurie Anne |

I'm fairly confident of my own accuracy (though all three were done from memory). However, editing isn't really a possibility because of the unusual acoustic. I think the whole collection should be seen as a special record of a very special afternoon.

Hi Laurie Anne!
I'm going through and PLing the recordings now, but mainly that just means looking out for edits I missed, and checking the silence at the end. (I was working quickly and excitedly when i first uploaded these). I'll remove the Mosquito and move Hugh's other poem up to fill the gap; that means we'll have 12 files instead of 13 - I'll make the database change.
I'm not too fussed about PD sources, as we know the poems (except the Mosquito) are PD. But if you see a source (or poem) you're not happy with, do let me know.

Oh good, you do all the work, that'll suit me fine. I'm happy with sources if you are! I'll just sit back, file my nails, and wait for you to call me if you need anything.

My pleasure! Thanks for doing the actual work. I've got it downloaded, ready to listen. Wish I could have been there. _________________ Laurie Anne |
