|
|
This project is now complete. All the files can be downloaded from our catalogue: http://librivox.org/us-bill-of-rights-by-james-madison/
United States Bill of Rights by James Madison
The Bill of Rights are the first ten amendments to the United States Constitution, and were ratified on December 15, 1791. We thought this would be a great time of year to gather as many diverse voices for the document as possible; newly applying US citizens are required to study it, and native-born students need to hear it too. I hope you will offer your personal voice-sound to the list, wherever you are, whoever you are. Hey, maybe over the holidays, you can persuade your visiting old uncle Balthazar to sit down at the mic and give it a go. Just make sure he understands that the disclaimer isn't actually part of the Constitution.
The text of the Bill of Rights can be found here. The Wikipedia article can be found here.
Ticktockman and puffin1 are co-coordinating this project.
Please be sure that your recording software is set to the following technical specifications:
Bit Rate: 128 kbps
Sample Rate: 44100 kHz

Begin your reading with the abbreviated LibriVox disclaimer:
| Quote: | The United States Bill of Rights. The Ten Original Amendments to the Constitution of the United States, read for LibriVox.org by [your name].
[Add, if you wish, date, your location, and/or your personal url.] |
Then read the text:
| Quote: |

V

At the end of your reading, leave a space and then say:
| Quote: | | End of The United States Bill of Rights. This recording is in the public domain. |
Please leave a few seconds of silence at the end of your recording.

Yes Pegasus, please do! For one thing, the founding fathers probably had something from among what we call British accents, and secondly, British subjects sometimes become US citizens. I look forward to your contribution. Besides all that, everything on LibriVox belongs to everybody, and I fully expect to record works authored by people who would have sounded different than me. _________________ Is it weird in here, or is it just me? - Steven Wright |

Thanks Vicky! I get up this morning and, boom, you already have it. I'm at work now (Pacific Time), but I'll listen to it tonight when I get home. Cheers! _________________ Is it weird in here, or is it just me? - Steven Wright |

What else is a girl meant to do at near 10am when she's been up all night? Insomnia is a great tool to creativity |

There you go...
oh and credit me as Victoria Clarke if that's ok.
Thankies and hope the recordings ok |
Okay Vicky, I got a chance to hear your file. You have a fine voice, and I hope you'll relax a little more so we can linger with it next time. I know how it is when you want to hurry to get a project in and "on the record". I'll PM you soon with some tips. You seem to have missed out on number VII, so if you can edit that in and re-upload the file, that would be great.
Cheers! You're a LibriVoxateer! _________________ Is it weird in here, or is it just me? - Steven Wright |

Hey Pegasus Marsters & puffin1,
I got rid of the clipping & tightened up the dynamics (oh the problems of living in a digital world).

Feel free to splice into this if you like it.
Thanks,
