Welcome to LibriVox jinx (I hope you don't live up to that name )
Great first reading, and all the technical stuff is correct
I did do a Normalize (-1.0) which amplified a bit and got rid of the DC offset, also a light noise cleaning to rid the file of background hum. PLease take a listen and tell me what you think.
Do you use a analog mic, one with the small round plug?
How would you like to be identified in the LV Catalog and do you have a URL you would like linked?
If you don't have a permanent external page you'd like to link to (and many, probably most, including me, don't) then clicking on your name as a reader (in the Magic Window) will take people to your own LV catalog page, which will look something like this. _________________ David Lawrence

A couple of notes on your reading, the volume was a bit too loud, there was some clipping - not enough to cause distortion though.
If you back off from the mic, that may just do the trick
Now I get technical here... Could you check your MP3 options, I show you have a variable bit rate of 127 kbps, - be sure the 'Constant' Bit Rate Mode is checked this in the MP3 options for Export file (or the equivalent if you are not using Audacity).
So I lowered your volume a bit using Normalize with a -1 setting and renamed your file with lowercase initials.
Don't worry, all this technical stuff takes time, and I look forward to hearing you again soon |
Thank you very much for your kind advice and modification
Next time I'll adjust the headset and check the mp3 options
Cheers
Katharine |

I'm fine with being identified simply as jinx and I have no external URL. |

| I was just listening to everybody's readings on this one. They're all amazing and I'm so jealous of everyone's accents. |
