Saudades: História de Menina e Moça by Bernardim Ribeiro (1482-1552) .

Quote:
(Summary by Leni)

Thanks much, Sue. I hope this one isn't too hard on you, with the old Portuguese!

Chapter 5 is up, and 6 and 7 are recorded and should be uploaded soon.

Leni, I told my husband: I'm somebody who could never manage to read Shakespeare and now I'm doing 16th century Portuguese--but really, all I have to do is listen; and maybe I'll figure out the plot in time . . . Confused Sue

Oh, true, the book starts really slowly... there is so much about how sad they are, and how women are always sad and... Laughing It's the style of the time - and this book is important exactly because of that! Go figure... Chapter five is where the plot actually starts, though. Very Happy

Leni, I hope your mom in Rio was ok during the electric failures! Were you without power in Vitoria?

Sections 8-12 seemed a bit rougher than your usual perfection. Some plosives here and there throughout. The only section, however, that I thought you might really want to revisit was No. 8 where the plosives & static get a bit distractive. I ok'd the others 9-12. Regards, Sue

My mom was asleep already, and didn't know about it until the next day Very Happy - I, on the other hand, had just finished dinner, and was with no power for quite a while! Surprising that it was on the news there though Laughing

I've been facing a problem with recording these days, that explains the noises in the sections - the heat! The plosives and noise are actually a fan. Neutral I only noticed it was leaving noises on the recording after I had all those sections. I tried to noiseclean it, but... oh well. I will re-record section 8. Yesterday it was a bit cooler and I recorded the next few sections with the fan off. I guess I need air conditioning in my home office!

Thanks for the PLing, Sue!
