Hello my name is Charles and I'm an ordained Christian priest. I listen to audio books along with my wife Monia who is signed up with librivox as well under the name of Ananka, and I wish to be able to help others be able to listen to the bible if such work is needed. I am a published writer and a Kung Fu and Chigong instructor. I hold two black belt in Kung Fu. I also do Reiki. I love a wide range of music and books and look forward to recording for librivox.

Hi Charles,

nice to have you (together with your wife!) on here - I hope you'll enjoy it...

A priest doing Kung Fu and Reiki - that would be great addition to our "interesting interests" thread: http://librivox.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20845 Laughing

About your suggested reading: if you have a look at our catalog, there are 165 matches for a search 'bible'. I know that we're positively encouraging different recordings of the same book (just search for Jane Austen Smile ), but personally I am wondering... Maybe there are other texts out there, just as dear to you, that nobody has attempted yet (because they wouldn't think of it...)?

No offence/discouragement, just food for thought! Wink

If you want to start recording something short, have a look at BellonaTimes' second coffee-break collection: Short works (< 15 min) about multi-faith... Very Happy

Welcome, Charles!

What flavor of Christian are you? By your saying you're a priest, I assume you wouldn't be interested in reading any of John Calvin's works, LOL! Wink

Might I interest you in The Antiquities of the Jews? Laughing See the link in my signature.

I know the King James is still copyrighted in England, so you wouldn't be able to read that. Sad There aren't any group projects currently running for other Bible versions, although there are some solos going. (That's where one reader reads a whole work. I know we've got a Weymouth New Testament version of Acts in the works in this way.)

Holler if you have any questions!

Tricia G I may be Anglo Catholic but my tastes are very eclectic and I can read anything from the buddist sutras to John Calvin lol Am intrested in the Jewish Antiquities and will look into it. Was looking through Project Gutenberg to see what all they have in the way of "Religious" works. I've studied under buddist and Taoist masters as a martial artist as well. Availle I know what you mean about the bible books and I wasn't meaning just the bible but religious books in general so dont worry not offended one bit Will see about posting in the interesting interests area sometime soon on what I do as well. Thanks for the suggestions and I look forward to reading for you guys soon!

Good to have you joining us, Charles (and *waves hello* to Ananka). Please do ask as questions pop up ... we're (almost annoyingly) helpful around these parts, and enjoy yourself here!

Cool! I'm also interested in recording works from many different faiths. The Ramayana is currently in progress in the Readers Wanted forum, so you might want to check that out. I'm just finishing the last few chapters of The Bahai Revelation by Thornton Chase (a solo project), but may set up some collaborative Baha'i projects in the future (or Baha'i short works collections). Just in case you're interested... Anyway... Welcome! Very Happy
