Cheers,

Apologies - I was looking at the date 1959, but I see you're not reading from that text, so it should be okay.

Are you planning to do this as a solo or a group work?

Carl, the man died in 1837 Laughing
1959 is the year of publishing of this particular collection, but he's been published thousands and thousands of times during the last two centuries.

I am planning it to be a solo actually. Do you speak Russian?

Hey, that's great! I was going to post a question if anybody could MC! Thanks a lot! I have a first file, and that's it for the week. It's the first two songs (like chapters) from Ruslan and Ludmila. I didn't expect it to be sooo long but the poem needs to be cut into three parts each with 2 songs. Do you think it's ok?

I am not sure how one can work on it, but I think several places there need to be re-read because they have not the best intonations or words are pronounced incorrectly - when I was getting too tired.

hehe, I've done the first two songs (chapters) of the first poem:

http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/cm/RuslanAndLudmila_01_AlexanderPushkin.mp3

http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/cm/RuslanAndLudmila_02_AlexanderPushkin.mp3

I've decided to divide by one song in each file rather than two, though if you think it could save some downloading for people, then I can glue them back into two-song files - ?

Thanks!

I'll do some of your PL for you, if you'd like, foreigngirl.

The only thing is, as I don't usually hang out in the Solo area, if you want me to PL, please PM me after you upload each few files and I'll wander in and do them.

I really like Pushkin Cloud Nine Should be a lovely collection!

asy Very Happy

Okay fg, you are now set up.

Please let me know if anything is wrong.

I've given you 40 sections, but this is easy to change.

Is "poemi" right?

We could do with a different description, rather than just saying where it came from. This has to be public domain, so either you do it or you rip it from ru.wikipedia.org. It should ideally be in Russian (with an English translation if you wish). Have a look in the catalague and you will see examples of descriptions for other projects.

Cheers,
Carl.

Asy: sound stupid, but just checking you understand Russian before I sign you up to PL.

Weeeeeeeeell....

Admittedly it's just a little rusty these days, but ya get that... But yes, I understand Russian. Read it and write it, etc... No worries there.

I don't have a *lot* of spare time, but I wasn't sure how many other Russian-literate people there were on LV, so I thought best put my hand up. Smile

Mind you, FG's reading is so absolutely beautiful it's a sheer joy to listen to.

I've had a listen to the first half of the third poem, and fg has quite an 's-static' problem which isn't bad enough to bother re-doing the poem, but it might be worth experimenting with microphone placement as all the letter s and f seem to have that breath-blow issue.

asy Very Happy

Greeeat! Asy, I am quite happy if you will listen to my files, thank you! I will keep you posted definitely.

As for "s" sounds, I have listened to myself now and agree there is something about this sound. Indeed, you are right about the microphone positioning: I am using a headset and my mic is really close to the mouth. I will try to fix this with the next parts. Any other comments are more than welcome!
Thanks a lot!

Carl, thanks a lot for setting me up! I will find Russian links for this and will see how I can change the summary.

With regard to file names, this was quite an issue for me, because files named "poemi_##" were not really meaningful in this case as I divided each poem into chapters. If I could save a huge file for each poem it would do as each poem then would be given a number. Hence I chose to name them in this format: "poem title_##" - do you think it's ok like this or not?

Cheers,
Foreign Girl
