Today Dutch Librivoxateers got together to celebrate the 5th anniversary of Librivox. We met in Utrecht in a cafe, we visited the Utrecht University Library and we went to a secondhand bookshop, to look for new material to record.
We took our new books to a volunteer’s home (where we had a lovely dinner) and started recording right away.
We now know the faces behind the voices. We had a great time and next time we hope to meet many more Dutch and Flemish readers.
Here is a link to a photo we made at our visit to the bookshop. From left to right: MsPhelps, Bart, Coenders, Pauline C and Lezer. (Z@p had to leave early.)
2010-10-05: The recording we made is now available: Natuurlijke Historie.

It sounds like a wonderful day! Thank you for volunteering and for sharing your experience.
Sounds like a lovely day and a great way to spend with friends of like :o)
Sounds like Fun
Hi Is this Bart Coenders that had a farm stay in the south of France. My family & i visited Bart in 2006 & I am trying to get in touch with him again.
Kind regards Trish Crimmings
Hoi Dutch Librivoxateers!
I ‘m Anne and Flemish.
I would like to participate as reader. I think Librivox is a great concept. I’ m listening to “The Origin of Species” by Darwin right now. But I would like to have some more Dutch spoken stuff on it. There is enough material that is still worth listening to, isn’t it?
Is there regular contact between the readers? I guess I could use some kind of support in the beginning… I did read books for blind people, but that was in a studio…
Vriendelijke groeten!
Hi Anne,
Come and join us! It’s really fun. Just jump into the forum, explore the wiki (see the Librivox Links) – the forum is where all the action is. We have a regular contact (in Dutch as well!) on the forums. We’ve only met once, so far, in real life, but that was certainly worth a repeat.
Anna (known as Lezer on the forums).
